INDUSTRY GROUP WARNS ABOUT INCREASED CYBERSECURITY THREATS

A proposal designed to protect critical infrastructure could actually increase the likelihood of insider threats, according to a group that represents contractors in the federal technology field, NextGov reports.
The Obama administration’s cybersecurity proposal would create “a virtual army of insiders,” Internet Security Alliance President Larry Clinton said at a House subcommittee session. Draft legislation of the administration’s plan would give companies the responsibility for threat mitigation, but assessment of risk control would be done by third-party inspectors.
