The legislation seeks to promote voluntary information sharing between the federal government and the private sector as well as encouraging information sharing within the private sector. Information shared among these entities may not be used to gain any unfair competitive advantage and only certified private sector entities may participate.

The U.S. economy and our government are dependent and reliant on a secure internet for both commerce and communication. The NAM supports a cybersecurity policy that draws on industry-driven best practices and promotes information sharing to help reduce the risk and exposure to cyberthreats.  We forward to working with Chairman Rogers on this issue that is important to manufacturers from every industry segment, their customers, and their supply chain.
